Two weekends ago I was delighted to be invited to the Destination Adare event hosted by the Irish Blogger Agency. I was thrilled when this opportunity arose as my love of Adare began at a young age. I remember passing through with my parents on the way to the Listowel Racing Festival and looking out the window at the beautiful shops and picturesque streets. A couple of weekends ago I was lucky enough to explore this little gem in more detail with the most amazing group of bloggers. That’s one of the things I’ve loved since starting my blog is meeting new people and making some great friends along the way. Anyway that’s enough rambling on, in today’s post I’m going to take you on a little guided tour of the places we visited in Adare.
First up we met in the Adare Heritage Centre which is at the heart of Adare in location and in spirit, where we greeted by the wonderful Maeve Martin-Kelly. Maeve runs the Heritage Centre and was the perfect host. Here we were all introduced to one another and given our itinerary for the day. We were treated to a delicious brunch at the Dovecote Restaurant and then attended the Adare Woolen Mills & Black Abbey Crafts fashion show also located in the Heritage Centre. If you haven’t visited Adare before I would highly recommend this to be your starting point.
Next it was onto Desmond Castle. This picturesque castle is located on the edge of the village of Adare and it provided the perfect back drop for some quick outfit shots. Here we were taken on a guided tour to learn about it’s history and heritage. Guided tours are provided and can be booked through the Adare Hertiage Centre. Desmond Castle would also be the perfect location for wedding/event photos.
We then began our tour of the boutiques Adare has to offer and wow, they are in plentiful supply with each one so different. Before lunch we headed to Lucy Erridge Design which stocks beautiful homeware, leather goods, knitwear and jewellery. It’s definitely somewhere you could pick up some lovely gifts for Christmas.
I was delighted to be brand ambassador for Aisling Maher’s Boutique and Life & Soul Boutique on the day. First on my list was Aisling’s, where we were greeted with a champagne reception and an introduction to her boutique. In my opinion Aisling’s boutique focuses on high end pieces, which include brands such as Diva, Onjenu etc. I would highly recommend Aisling’s to anyone attending a wedding, the races (especially Royal Ascot/Cheltenham Festival/Aintree) or a special event. Aisling is also a milliner who makes all her own hats which are available for purchase. Her attention to details is second to none!
Life & Soul Boutique, owned by Kay Shanahan, is what I would describe as a treasure trove and I was thrilled to be their brand ambassador. Again we were greeted with a champagne reception & a selection of sweets which fueled us for the remainder of our day. The one thing that is associated with the boutiques in Adare is that they are on the more expensive side. However, while the brands Life & Soul stock ooze quality there price points are very reasonable. Above you can see some items I tried on, all of which were priced under the €60 mark. Life & Soul Boutique stocks brands such as Vila, Molly Braken, Amber, My Sisters Closet, Pieces and Maisy to name but a few. Kay couldn’t have been more generous on the day giving us beautiful goodie bags leaving and I don’t think it will be long before my next visit.
The last boutique of the day, but certainly not least, was Lady Penelope Boutique. Another Adare gem, Lady Penelope’s has an extensive range of clothing catering for casual dress, to workwear right up to high fashion occasion wear. They also stock some beautiful accessories, shoes and jewellery.
I think it’s safe to say it won’t be long before I visit Adare again. Already when friends and followers are asking me for places to recommend Adare just springs to mind. The beauty about it is there is a variety of choice to suit everyone’s tastes, budgets and needs. Lastly I would like to say a huge thank you to Sínead Carroll (Irish Blogger Agency), Gaye Moore (The Potentialist) and Maeve Martin-Kelly (Adare Heritage Centre) for organsing an extremely successful event. I was delighted to be able to attend and show case all the beautiful areas, boutiques and eateries Adare has to offer. I’m looking forward to the next event already!
