If you’re like me when you finish a good Netflix series you find it so disappointing (first world problems, I know!). It’s always difficult to start and find another good one, so this problem inspired me to put together a list of my favourites. My tastes vary considerably so I’m hoping there will be something in there for everyone.
Starting with one of my all-time favourites – Gossip Girl. I would never usually want to watch a series again but out of all my favourites this is the one I would re-watch. Set in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Gossip Girl is full of scandal, heartache, great fashion and suspense. I have watched the entire show and needless to say I was very sad when they decided not to make any more episodes. When I visited New York, I didn’t get around to doing the tour but it will be the first thing on my list when I go back!
Like Gossip Girl, Suits is based in New York and also has great fashion – one of the reason I fell in love with it. I think you’re starting to see a theme here, style always catches my eye! It’s about an American legal firm and stars Gabriel Macht, Patrick J Adam, Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty to name but a few. If you are interested in an ever twisting story line, anything law related, and some lighthearted humour you’ll love this.
Somewhat of a follow-on from the movie Shooter about American sniper Bob Lee Swagger, this series is one that catches your attention from the first episode. It’s definitely one that requires concentration to keep up with who’s on which side etc. It is a relatively new series and the second season has just started.
House Of Cards
Set in Washington DC, House Of Cards is an American political drama series staring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara etc. It’s another one full of twisting story lines and requires serious concentration to keep up with all of Frank Underwood’s scheming. To date, it has received 33 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and the actors exceed themselves time and time again.
Pretty Little Liars
I would describe this series in two words – deceiving and addictive. Deceiving in that when I first started watching it I didn’t think it could be that scary but there are definitely some scenes that would have you on the edge of your seat. And addictive in that you are dying to find out who the famous ‘A’ is! I will say no more and let you watch for yourselves.
I have just started watching the latest series of this and I’m addicted all over again. Produced by rapper Fifty Cent, Power is a crime series based on the drug cartels in New York and the people who run them. Filled with conflict, crime, violence etc. it is not really for the fainthearted but in my opinion is a must watch.
I hope this list will be of some use to you next time you are looking to sink your teeth into a good series. I have also listed below some of the series’ I want to check out. If you have any of your own favourites please comment below, as I said I’m always on the look out for a good one!
