The Rooms at Bardons

On Saturday I kicked off the long weekend in the best way possible staying at Bardons, Kilcullen. Any time I’m in Kilcullen Bardons would always be on my radar for food, so when I saw they had renovated their rooms I was dying to stay there. We were attending a party to mark the end of the National Hunt season at Punchestown so the timing couldn’t have worked out better. I checked into their Green Room, which is one of their family rooms, just after two o’clock and I was simply blown away by the decor. You can check out the rest of their rooms on their Facebook page.

As I mentioned it has recently been refurbished and after a bit of researched I learned that Number 10 Design along with owners Eddie and Leanne Cross were responsible for the impressive decor. Kitted out with everything you need, including a Nespresso machine, Wifi etc. I couldn’t have been happier.

Bardons is located in Kilcullen just off the motor way and is perfectly situated for any racegoers. There are a number of tracks in the area and for meetings like the Punchestown Festival, the Irish Derby etc. it is ideal. Kildare Village is only a stones through away along with some impressive spa hotels such as the Killashee.  It would also be the perfect spot to break a journey to Dublin.

Finally there are plenty of top class restaurants located in the area, my favourite being Hartes of Kildare. I have eaten here on quite a few occasions and I’m convinced it keeps getting better. However, make sure to book as it is a popular spot. Fallons is another beautiful option which you can walk to from Bardons. If you are looking for a less formal setting for dinner you needn’t look any further than Bardons itself.

I can’t wait for a return visit and at very reasonable rates it will be top of my list when I’m in the area!

A couple of things to bare in mind when staying at Bardons are they have a 7 day cancellation policy and don’t serve breakfast. However there are a few cute cafes in Kilcullen and Kildare Village is only a 10 minute drive. Let’s put it this way you won’t be stuck!
