The Pheasant

Just before Christmas I headed over to the UK for a wedding. From the moment the invitation arrived I knew it was going to be a special trip as I grew up with my friend that was getting married. We stayed at The Pheasant which I would describe as a boutique hotel. Located in the West Berkshire countryside between Wales and London, just off the M4 and under an hour from Heathrow it would be an ideal stop over. If you were doing a tour of England I couldn’t recommend The Pheasant highly enough. Below I have showcased it through a picture diary, enjoy!

Adding their take on festive decor!

The Pheasant is newly refurbished and has eleven en-suite guest rooms. It also offers an adventurous drinks menu as the landlord’s family has a passion for brewing and managing pubs and hotels dating back to the 1750s!

“Our guest bedrooms have all the relaxed, home-from home comfort you’d expect from a country pub”

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area including a visit to Highclere Castle, home of Downton Abbey. It can be reached in 20 minutes from The Pheasant. Also, if you are horse racing enthusiast this is the perfect location – a 10 minute drive from Britain’s jump racing capital Lambourn and very near to Newbury racecourse.

The beds were like sleeping on a cloud!

For breakfast I opted for the healthy option of poached eggs and avocado served on some whole meal toast. It was delicious! We also had dinner here the night before the wedding. Check out their menu here.

“Our approach to food is all about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously.”

“You’ll find great food and drink, stylish surroundings and friendly company”

And we couldn’t have asked for better company!

I’m looking forward to a return visit and at very reasonable prices I think I could tempt a few friends to join me.
