The Gili Islands

I had two regrets on my trip to Bali and not staying on the Gili Islands was one of them (the other was not staying in Seminyak, so little time so much to do!). The Gili Islands consists of 3 islands: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air and they are all beautiful!

We visited the Gili Islands while staying in Lombok as they are only a 20 minute boat ride away. We booked the trip through our hotel – the Sheraton Senggigi Beach which included the transfer to the harbour, and it cost about €40 each. Such good value considering we were gone for most of the day.

We decided to go with the private speed boat as it meant we could stay on each island for as long as we wanted. We went paddle boarding on Gili Trawangan (Gili T), dined on Gili Meno and snorkeled around the islands. It was such an amazing experience! The sea is so warm and clear.

Out of all the islands Gili Meno was my favourite. It was so simplistic and beautiful. When I return to Bali I’m definitely going to stay here for a couple of nights!

Another thing I loved about Gili is there is no traffic, the only form of transport are ponies (see the little guy pictured above). Although while they look cute they are not always the friendliest, be warned!

Pictured below is a little cafe on Gili Meno where we had lunch.

The menu was so basic and we were a little skeptical about what the food was going to be like but it was delicious. So simple but lovely! In case you haven’t already realised in my opinion the Gili Islands are a must! Enjoy!
