Memorable Monart

Monart Destination Spa located in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford is listed as the third best spa in the world according to Conde Nast Traveller. In my opinion it is like stepping into a haven full of luxury and relaxation. I had received reports from various friends that it was something special, but I never could have imagined how special it was and the service you receive is second to none.

I had planned this trip in advance with two college friends and we opted for the ‘Monart Midweek Haven Package’. Arriving on a wet, miserable Wednesday morning, it was exactly what I needed! From the minute I drove to the door I didn’t lift a finger. My bags were unloaded, brought to our room and my car was parked by one of Monart’s kind porters. We requested early check-in (you pay a little extra but it’s worth it), making the most of what was on offer.

Once you arrive at Monart and change into the beautiful towelling robes you don’t have to get changed again until you leave. We dined in the Garden Lounge for lunch and then made our way to the spa to use the various thermal suites. Now, I won’t ruin the surprise for you all but my favourite was the salt grotto. This essentially is a salt and steam treatment to soften the skin, aid circulation and ease existing respiratory difficulties. Our package allowed for a treatment and I opted for the Tension Release Massage which was exquisite. Once we had exhausted every inch of the thermal suite we headed for the relaxation room and had a little snooze before dinner.

Our package included dinner in the restaurant which is the only area where you can’t wear the towelling robes. However, the girls and I only love a chance to dress up. The restaurant itself is recommended by the Michelin & Bridgestone Guides and there is an emphasis on locally sourced products. Once dinner had ended we retired to our rooms, put on a DVD (P.S. I Love you, an old favourite), ordered some popcorn and minstrels to the room…yes, this is possible at Monart, and chatted till much later than planned.

Thursday morning came around way too quick and before we knew it, it was time to check out. We dined (in our robes again) where we had dinner the night before for breakfast. There is a huge selection on offer from healthy options to the good old full Irish! After checking out we lounged in the main house where there are several areas to choose from. We went with the drawing room and its appealing comfy couches, had tea andread our books before it was time to get on the road. Monart it was a pleasure and I hope to be back soon!
